LnkWatch

Terms of service

Effective 7 July 2026 · last updated 8 July 2026 · LinkWatch, United Kingdom

1. The service

LinkWatch monitors links on websites you ask us to monitor and reports findings by email and dashboard. Monitoring is inherently probabilistic: a link that is healthy at scan time can die a minute later, and a detector can miss a novel link format. Findings are point-in-time and best-effort; verify before acting on them. The service is provided "as is", without a formal SLA or uptime commitment.

2. Your account and acceptable use

  • You may only add sites you own or are authorised to monitor. Adding a site is your warranty of that authority.
  • You may not use LinkWatch to probe, load-test, or attack any third-party site. We enforce rate limits and may suspend abusive accounts.
  • DNS or registrar tokens you connect must be read-only where the provider supports it; we will refuse write-scoped credentials where we can detect them.
  • If a third party brings a claim against us because you added a site you weren't authorised to monitor, or otherwise broke this section, you'll cover the losses and reasonable costs that claim causes us. (If you only ever add your own sites, this clause will never matter.)

2a. Suspension and ending the service

We can suspend or close accounts that break section 2, don't pay, or create operational or legal risk — with notice where reasonably possible, immediately where not. You can close your account at any time. If we ever discontinue LinkWatch entirely we'll give paying customers at least 30 days' notice and refund any fees covering time after the shutdown. On closure we delete your account data as described in the privacy notice. The service, its software, detectors, and branding remain ours; your data remains yours.

3. The missed-link guarantee

On paid plans: if you find a broken, dead, or de-tagged affiliate link on a monitored page before it appeared in any LinkWatch digest, alert, or dashboard, we will refund that month's subscription fee for the affected plan on request, no quibble. Conditions: the link must be of a type and network we monitor (as listed on how it works), on a page within your plan's monitored scope, and your site must have been crawlable during the relevant scan cycle. Guarantee refunds are capped, in aggregate, at the fees you paid us in the preceding 12 months. Our scan records are the reference for what was reported when, and we'll share them with you on request.

4. Monitoring disclaimer and liability

Except for the guarantee above, we are not liable for missed, delayed, or failed notifications; false positives or false negatives; gaps caused by third-party throttling, network failures, or your site being unreachable; or any commission, revenue, or profit lost as a result. You remain responsible for your own links and income — LinkWatch is a supplementary signal, not an insurance policy.

Our total liability to you under these terms is capped at the fees you paid us in the preceding 12 months, or £50 if you have paid nothing. We exclude all indirect, incidental, and consequential damages, including lost profits and lost data. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 or the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you are a consumer, the service must be provided with reasonable care and skill and your statutory rights are unaffected.

5. Subscriptions and cancellation

Paid plans bill monthly in advance and can be cancelled at any time, effective at the end of the billing period. If you are a consumer you have a 14-day cancellation right from first purchase; by starting monitoring immediately you consent to the service beginning within that period, and any refund is reduced proportionally to service already provided.

6. Your data and ours

Your site URLs, scan results, and digests belong to you; we take a limited licence to crawl and process them to provide the service. We may compute and publish aggregated, anonymised statistics about link and merchant health across all monitored sites (for example, "X% of scanned sites carry retired eBay links"). These aggregates are keyed on merchants and products, never on your site, and identify no customer.

7. Changes and contact

We'll notify account holders by email of material changes to these terms; if you don't accept a material change you can cancel before it takes effect and we'll refund the unused part of your month. Questions: [email protected]. See also our privacy notice.

8. Governing law and the boring-but-important bits

  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also use your local courts, and you keep any protection your local consumer law makes mandatory.
  • These terms (plus the privacy notice and the guarantee page) are the whole agreement between us about the service. If a court finds one clause unenforceable, the rest stand. If we don't enforce a clause for a while, we haven't waived it.
  • We're not liable for failures caused by events genuinely outside our control (major outages of underlying providers, disasters, state action) — though the guarantee's own terms still apply to scans that did run.
  • You may not resell the service or assign your account without our consent; we may assign this agreement as part of a sale of the business, on the same terms.
